Divorce can be a stressful and complicated process.  There are specific laws for divorce in Texas and requirements you must meet in order to obtain a divorce here.

Here are some helpful Do's and Don'ts when you're thinking about filing for a divorce.

In Texas, you can use either fault or no-fault grounds as the basis for seeking a divorce, or you can base your divorce on the fact that you've been separated from your spouse for at least three years.

If you have children, there are other steps parents need to complete as well. Like most states, Texas courts believe that having frequent, regular contact with both parents is what is usually best for the children of divorce. Joint custody is the preferred result. You can see the links (on the left) for the required seminars parents must attend (online) and what you can expect your child support payments will be. Child support is an obligation and Texas has severe consequences if not paid.

We hope you find these helpful links to resources useful during your divorce in Texas.
